Nedum typeface

At its core, Nedum is a display, economic typeface. Meant to be used for headings and titles, it’s targeting the most ink-intense parts of printing. Because of the cutouts, Nedum is using less ink than usual display typeface without compromising legibility. I think it is important for us, designers, to be aware of the impact of the work we are producing, in that sense Nedum can be a solution to a designer’s problem. The typeface is inspired by the circularity of paper (a widely recycled material) and its “free-flowing”, organic characteristics.

The casts are for development and experimental purposes, I wanted to experience this typeface in hand, 3D rather than digitally or just printed. The casts are made out of a mix of plaster and repurposed construction materials, giving waste a new form and meaning.
